Lego Robotics

BOGATECH and Tumo

Bogatech started to collaborate with Tumo Center for Creative Technologies by implementing a new line of activities based on educational robotics.

The Bogatech Educational Robotics Workshop started 5 years ago in Barcelona as an afterschool activity, and later implemented some successful projects, and participated in international competitions.

At the beginning of February the first Tumo educational robotics workshop was implemented in collaboration with Bogatech. 60 students divided into two groups participated in an intensive introduction course to Lego Mindstorms NXT during 10 days and finished the course with a collaborative robotics project.

Tumo and Bogatech continue to partner and provide students of Yerevan and Barcelona a new field of creative thinking and a multicultural experience. Read more >>

In February 2012, Tumo initiated a robotics workshop to nurture students' passions for science, technology, engineering and mathematics using LEGO technology.

The workshop teaches 20-25 students the basics of programming an autonomous robot capable of using its four sensors to make the decision to move, navigate and/or act accordingly. The basic software used for the workshop are LEGO Mindstorms NXT-G (to program the robots) and LEGO Digital Designer (to build robot models in 3D).

After this introduction, students start a collaborative robotics project that allows them to work in teams and interact/negotiate amongst themselves to accomplish a common goal. The completed project is presented to the public and parents on the last day of the workshop. Josep Fargas, a Lego Mindstorms expert from Barcelona, pays frequent visits to Yerevan to lead two-week workshops for Tumo students.
