refugees to daily struggles were entered into the competition.
14 were chosen to compete for the winning categories of Best Film,
Best Cinematography and Best Story. The winning documentaries were
screened at Moscow Cinema for a public audience. The Best Story
award went to Aram Kirakosyan who depicted the lives of individuals
being cared for at a psychiatric hospital. Avetis Avetisyan's documentary
showing the beautiful scenery in a border village under constant threat of
sniper fire from neighboring Azerbaijan took the Best Cinematography award.
Marine and Sona Qocharyan won the Best Film award and will be travelling to
New York to take part in an international film festival. Their humorous take
on the tragic circumstance of a village cut in two by the Armenia-Georgia
border captured the hearts of the jurors and the general audience.
