"Our Moment in Time," a 100 piece exhibition dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide will take place in the Tumo installation area starting April 17 at 19:00.

The group of students behind the exhibition got together after participating in a product design workshop at Tumo with architect and workshop leader Vasken Brudian.

When speaking about the features of the exhibition, Brudian said: "This is our first non-digital exhibition, unique in its scale and format. We studied Armenian decorative patterns from various cultural objects, including architecture, cross-stones, miniatures and carpets, to transcriptions from Naregatsi's "Book of Lamentations". We developed the images using graphic elements and then created the pieces by hand, resulting in a modern visual language."

Team member Nare Gevorgyan explained that being a part of the whole process was motivating for her. "We gathered traditional decorative patterns from all over Armenia in the initial phase of the product design workshop. We created collages from the collected materials, printed them and then developed them by hand," said Nare.

Working with the youngsters was an encouraging experience for Brudian. He said "After seeing the students' enthusiasm and talent, I can confidently say that Armenia has the opportunity to make its unique mark on the world of design."

The combination of different methods and materials from various eras in one exhibition has resulted in a unique, eye catching installation, that appears both familiar and unusual for the viewer.

The exhibition will continue until May 15. It is free and open to the public.
