In early March, Tumo will host a new music workshop. Ara Dabanjian, leader of the Los Angeles based Element Band and its vocalist Soseh Keshishyan will be in Yerevan for two weeks and will work with Tumo students on the fundamentals of musical composition.

Workshop participants will learn about ethnic music composition in the contemporary music world. They will have the opportunity to produce a fusion of traditional and modern styles in original compositions. Over the course of the workshop, students will also be exposed to Element Band's unique style and musical technique, as well as how they deal with playing for large audiences.

The mission of the eight-member Element Band is the juxtaposition of an innovative approach to music and traditional styles. They work with American, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Greek and Armenian music, in addition to traditional Mediterranean melodies, mixing them into upbeat compositions using unique instruments.
