The much awaited result of the two week workshop with Ara Dabanjian, leader of the Los Angeles based Element Band and its vocalist Soseh Keshishian is here. A fusion of Armenian melodies, punk rock rhythms and electro beats is ready for your listening pleasure.
The workshop started off by focusing on the fundamentals of musical composition and soon turned into a collaborative project which brought together four of Tumo's student band projects to create innovative tracks. Girl band Decibelle, the Tmba-Ta orchestra, the DIY project and the Pyramidz electro band collaborated on three tracks curated by Ara and Soseh.
"Sevavor Aghjik", "Hamayak Jan" and "Khrovats er" are reinterpretations of traditional Armenian songs in pop, electro punk and contemporary folk styles. The tracks are representative of the musical influences, inspirations and respective backgrounds of the participants. The team is now working on music videos for all three tracks.
