1,000 Cubic Meters Waiting for an Installation

A month ago, Tumo announced an international competition for a work of art and technology to be housed in the center's largest space, the 10 meter high "installation area" that is waiting for a new inhabitant.

 

The installation space is a highly versatile area that has seen numerous events, exhibitions and installations over the last three years.

 

43 photographers

 

Under the leadership of award winning photographers Scout Tufankjian and Eric Grigorian, 43 Tumo students produced breathtaking visual stories that were displayed on the floor of the installation space.

 

Holiday landscape

 

In December 2013, 3,000 pencils, hanging from the ceiling of the installation space depicted a snowy landscape and a christmas tree, produced by students over an intensive two week period.

Houshamadyan

 

Sixty Tumo students collected historic artefacts in a workshop led by instructors from Houshamadyan and presented them in a specially designed exhibition environment, mixing museum-style displays with digital multimedia pieces.

 

Product design

 

The results of an ambitious product design exhibition in the installation space gave birth to a startup studio that is now being incubated at Tumo.

Soviet modernism

 

One of the most recent exhibitions to take place in the installation space displayed the results of an architecture photography workshop focusing on Armenia's modern architecture legacy from the Soviet era.

 

TEDxYerevan

 

Many events have taken place in the installation space, including the last three years' TEDxYerevan events with the participation of thinkers, artists and even a sword swallower.
