The results of Tumo's first internal game competition were announced today. Games were entered into the competition by ten teams of Tumo students who had been given two months to complete a game from start to finish.

The winning team, made up of 16 year olds Vahe Muradyan and Abel Ghazinyan, made a mission game called "Space" for which they won the book The Art of Game Design by Jesse Schell and a lifetime Steam account. The objective of the game is to grab asteroids with a spaceship and drag them to a specific destination. The game is populated with various celestial bodies and obstacles, and boasts realistic physics, with gravitation, inertia and the spaceship's user-controlled propulsion and navigation. Vahe and Abel designed and programmed the game from start to finish using the Java programming language.

The second place prize, another lifetime Steam account, went to 14 year old Gagik Amaryan, who also programmed his game "Rush" from scratch. It is a top down shooter game that runs in any standard web browser, developed using JavaScript and PIXI.js technology.  Marine Harutunyan took third place and received a sketch book for her game "Sheriff's Monsters", a timed matchmaking puzzle game also created with JavaScript.

There was also a special prize for "Tumo Rush", a runner game with hand drawn animated characters and game levels based on the Tumo center itself, complete with a coach, furniture and equipment. It is made by 13 year old Arsen Abajanyan and 15 year old Mary Heybatyan using the GameMaker engine and JavaScript. They each also received a copy of The Art of Game Design.
