The winners of the "India in My Imagination competition" have just returned from India after an unforgettable weeklong trip, full of emotions and excitement. Nane Petrosyan, Victoria Torosyan, Siranush Mkhitaryan and Alvard Baghdasaryan, accompanied by Tumo staff member Shushan Paremuzyan, got a chance to enjoy the sights and sounds of India and learn more about its ancient culture, and they were amazed and astonished by their experience.

They started their trip in the national capital territory of Delhi where they visited the Red Fort, a symbol of India, and Humayun's Tomb, the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. Their second day was jam-packed as they travelled to Agra by road, with a stopover in the palace city of Fatehpur Sikri. The iconic Taj Mahal, considered one of the best examples of Mughal architecture, was where the winners got a chance to meet some of the locals and experience their culture. They then watched a colorful song and dance show at the Kalakriti Cultural and Convention Center about the mausoleum, where they got a fuller understanding of Indian culture. The following destination was the stunning city of Jaipur, known as the pink city, in the state of Rajasthan. Here, as well as seeing sights and tasting Rajasthani food, they each had a turn at riding elephants and camels, and trying on national dresses.

As they made their way back to Delhi to complete their list of places to see, which included the Baha'i Lotus Temple, the Qutab Minar, the presidential home of Rashtrapati Bhawan and the spectacular Akshardham Temple, they spoke about their experiences of being immersed in a completely different culture. They were surprised by how much they saw in India, compared to when they had researched it for the competition. They also noted how the diverse architecture of each region reflected the culture of its people and drew comparisons with their native Armenia.

The "India in My Imagination" competition was implemented by Tumo on behalf of the Embassy of India in Armenia and the Ministry of Education of Armenia.
