In January, CyArk will be running an eight day training course on digital preservation at Tumo. The aim of the course is to transfer digital preservation processes and skills to participants.

The course will consist of four days of on-site field capture training and four days of workshop training. Initially, participants will travel to the Geghard Monastery to learn basic surveying principles including how to operate a state of the art 3D laser scanner. Additionally, they will learn how to take HDR panoramic photos to produce an immersive virtual tour of the site. Participants will also learn the fundamentals of photogrammetry and how a series of photos can be used to create highly detailed 3D models.

Following the field capture training, participants will process the data collected at the Geghard Monastery and create architectural drawings, virtual tours, immersive environments, 3D modeling and other deliverables.
