The series of Golden Apricot events at Tumo has now come to an end. The final guest in the series was Austrian born cinematographer, director and producer Christian Berger. Berger gave a talk and held a workshop for young camera operators. The main focus of the workshop was to provide young operators with a new way of seeing light.

Berger said that he had dreamed of becoming a filmmaker from the age of 16. However, mid-career, he thought of quitting the industry because he was never satisfied with the final result of his own work due to lighting. At this point, instead of quitting, he decided to create his own lighting system. He invented the Cine Reflect Lighting System, a set of power-saving tools designed to increase the scope of existing light sources. He has used this system to shoot almost all of his projects since 2001.

Almost 100 students and professionals took part in the workshop which introduced them to lighting systems and the philosophy of light in cinematography. Berger was the first cinematographer in the history of the American Society of Cinematographers to win an award for a non-English language film. He is also a founding member of the Bartenbach Light Academy in Innsbruck and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
