Over 300 participants gathered at Tumo yesterday for the fifth annual TEDxYerevan on the theme of education and hope. 10 diverse speakers inspired, fascinated and sparked discussions on topics ranging from swallowing swords, conquering fears and dreaming big, to the rights of women, children and robots.

The speaker line-up included activists, educators, CEOs and founders who all brought their own fresh ideas and perspectives on education and hope. After lunch, 30 Tumo students, who had very little or no musical background last year prior to joining the Tmba-Ta Orchestra, took to the stage with their awe-inspiring performance conveying the power of hope and education in pursuing dreams.

This year's event was also a celebration of TEDxYerevan and the world famous TEDx program's fifth anniversary of inspiring ideas worth sharing in local communities.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that brings people together to share a TED-like experience. This event is called TEDxYerevan, where x = independently organized TED event. At the TEDxYerevan event, TEDTalks videos and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

TEDxYerevan is organized by the TEDxYerevan official licensee Kristine Sargsyan and her team.
