The thousands of pencils that will be used at Tumo this year to create flipbooks, sketch out ideas and practice drawing will come from our Christmas tree.
Tumo's holiday installation was created by students and staff over the course of several weeks in December. Using white and green pencils hanging from fishing line, it rendered a three-dimensional model of a snowy landscape topped by a decorated tree.
The combination of the pencil, the most classic analog tool for creative work, with a digital model of curved surfaces also contained an ecological message of conservation and reuse.
