On June 26th, self-confessed color geek Liz Artinian gave a public lecture on color theory entitled ''Illuminating Backgrounds: The Production Art of Broadcast Animation". Artinian is the painting director of the animated television series "The Venture Bros" and is currently leading a workshop on color animation at Tumo.
Liz spoke about color theory and how color can be used to create depth in an image. She used examples of her own work and expanded on the techniques she currently uses on "The Venture Bros". Liz advised young artists in the audience to make color theory an integral part of their creative work and to develop their personal style. She analyzed the use of color in traditional painting and spoke about digital applications as the perfect tools for manipulating color.
