Illustrator and performer Deborah Phares will begin her 10 day workshop on the creation of comics on September 15th. Students will create a cartoon character from personality to visual appearance.

They will develop its characteristics, its friends and its story in a comic strip style. Students will be guided on constructing and writing the story and building the character's form, shape and personality. They will bring the character and story to life through lines and color, and by using expressive camera angles and comic writing and drawing techniques.

Deborah Phares graduated from the Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts in 2003 with a Master in Advertizing, Specialized in Concept and Copywriting. She has been a teacher since October 2004 and is currently teaching at the Illustration department of ALBA, the Graphic Design department at the Lebanese University and Antonine University. She won first prize in illustration from the Boghossian Foundation in 2013 for her character Madmozél.
