British film critic and International Film Guide editor Ian Haydn Smith lectured on Alfred Hitchcock's career and his use of the cinematic language to tell stories. The talk focused on the importance of Hitchcock's work in the film tradition, his influences and his greatest creations. A screening of The Lodger followed.

Haydn Smith was in Yerevan as a special guest of the 11th annual British Film Festival held from March 2-11 in honor of the United Nations International Year of Water Cooperation. As of March 4, some of the festival's selections were being screened at the Tumo cinema.
