Thomas Laurent and Vladimir Nachbaur of France’s Graduate School of Games and Interactive Media (ENJMIN) are showing students at Tumo that making games can be just as fun as playing them.

The two gaming professionals began their month-long workshop on the fundamentals of game development today with over 30 students in attendance.

Using the Construct 2 game engine, participants worked hand-in-hand with instructors on developing their own 2D games. In addition to the programming and design aspects of video games, they will be learning the basics of story building, connecting graphics with sound, and advancing a user through different levels of difficulty.

After getting familiar with these key techniques, students will work in groups of 2-3 to create their own multi-platform games from scratch.
