Today, Shant TV's "For the Future" campaign reached its goal of raising the initial $300,000 required to establish Tumo in Gyumri and fund its first year of operation. Individual donors, businesses and organizations all contributed to the global fundraising endeavor.
The establishment of Tumo in the second largest city in Armenia is another step in fulfilling Tumo's vision to expand its presence in Armenia and the diaspora. In August 2011, Tumo opened its flagship center in Yerevan and has since educated more than 10,000 young people, offering access to 21st century learning resources, digital media and prominent instructors and mentors. Tumo provides the opportunity for Armenian youth to reach their full potential through creative technologies.
Tumo Gyumri is expected to open in the spring of 2015 and will be equipped to welcome up to 1,000 students from Gyumri and the surrounding Shirak region.
