For the past four months, Tumo students have been participating in the global collaborative project "Family. Life." about family and its role in daily life. There are 60 institutions participating in the project, of which all but Tumo are universities around the world. The project encompasses various disciplines including fine art, photojournalism, documentary film, and animation. Tumo students are working on a photo-literary depiction of family.

The project, led by award winning photojournalist Eric Grigorian and writer and educator Nyree Abrahamian, is sponsored by Syracuse University's Multimedia Photography and Design Department and The Alexia Foundation. Participants are currently working on the completing the written narratives with writing workshop leader Violet Grigoryan to accompany the photos already taken.
