Upcoming Tmba-Ta Album

For the past month, the Tumo Tmba-Ta orchestra has been recording tracks for their upcoming album. 30 Tumo students are participating in the recordings and many more have registered for the Tmba-Ta workshop during the process.
The album will have 10 unique tracks, including original compositions with electro, blues, rock and Armenian folk influences. The final production will include Armenian tracks such as "Gatsek Tesek" and "Habrban", "Le Petit Papa" which includes a rap version of a French classic, and a cover of Fred McDowell's "You got to move".
The album is set to be released next month with an opening presentation and concert at Tumo.
Arik Grigoryan of The Bambir leads the Tmba Ta workshop in which students learn about rhythm, percussion, folk music and the practical application, as well as the philosophy of music. The majority of participants have no previous musical background. Their participation in Tmba-Ta was their first exposure to studying music.
New participants are always welcome.
