It was fun in the sun in Jordi Adria’s Portrait Photography workshop this week, as students ventured outdoors to experiment with different forms of light in capturing photos.

After being introduced to the fundamentals of how to read and interpret light from various sources—such as studios, flashguns, and sunlight—participants were sent out into the field with SLR cameras to put their learning to practice.

Students could be seen working in groups and individually throughout Tumo’s plaza, using different levels of flash and camera settings in conjunction with natural light to achieve quality photo results.

These photos will then be stored in computer labs and, under Adria’s professional guidance, students will gain experience doing final edits and retouches to their portraits using Photoshop.
