Today, Tumo's lineup of two high end MakerBot 3D printers was supplemented with five open source RepRap printers.

RepRap 3D printers are designed to print most of their own components, allowing users to produce more of them in an affordable manner. And a workshop starting in November will allow Tumo students to do just that. Workshop participants will build the lab's sixth RepRap and then use all the printers to prototype and produce various 3D models.

The family of models built by the students will result in a configurable kit of parts for stop motion animation and video game settings. Characters, buildings, and other assets produced in the workshop will then be used by students in a number of creative projects across Tumo's focus areas.
