Tumo students Mane Nersisyan and Arpine Baroyan’s claymation film won second place yesterday in the Animation competition organized by the ReAnimania international animation film festival and Converse Bank.

Competition participants were required to submit a 15-30 second animation on the occasion of Converse Bank’s 20 year anniversary. At the request of Mane and Arpine, Tumo provided them the facilities and equipment they need to create their prize-winning work. Starting with a script and a storyboard, the two-person team sculpted the claymation figures, shot stop-motion scenes, edited them, and added music, sound effects and titles, in order to produce the following work.

The competition’s first place winner was Zach Demirtshyan with his 2D animation entry.

Mane and Arpine had been active participants in Tumo’s claymation workshop where they learned the techniques used in their submission. Each participant in the workshop had filmed an animation piece based on an original story of their own creation.
