Last Saturday, six competing groups at Tumo shared their newly created Facebook pages, covering topics ranging from facts to fashion.
This was the result of a month-long digital literacy workshop led by a handful of Tumo staff members, each working with a dozen students on a theme chosen by workshop participants. Their goal was to get the most “likes” and increase the number of “people talking about this,” a key Facebook metric reflecting the popularity of a page.
The topics chosen by the groups are surprising trivia, Yerevan street fashion, the Tumo band Tmba Ta, a film showcase, graffiti and daily life at Tumo.
Over the coming weeks, the teams' pages will compete for popularity, trying to boost their ratings using social media marketing techniques.
