Twenty eight entries were submitted to Tumo's Young Documentarians Short Film competition, implemented in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Armenia. The competition was open to all young documentarians between seventeen and twenty six years of age. The theme of the competition was movers and shakers in social and political issues in Armenia.

In November last year, Tumo announced a series of workshops for a competition for aspiring documentarians, in which all young filmmakers between the ages of seventeen and twenty six were invited to participate. During the workshops, participants had the opportunity to film their documentaries with the assistance of leading specialists from around the world.

During those initial three months, the documentarians were mentored by specialists, some of whom were international experts. They were also provided with all necessary equipment to produce their films. The films produced during the workshops were entered into the competition, in addition to a number of films submitted by other young filmmakers.

On June 20th, the winners of the Young Documentarians Short Film competition will be announced at an awards ceremony. The international panel of judges will choose the winner of the Best Film category, who will receive financial support to attend a major international film festival, as well as a DSLR camera. The winners in the Best Screenplay and Best Cinematography categories will also receive DSLR cameras. The award-winning films will be screened for a general audience during the ceremony.
