A press conference concluding the "Young Documentarians" short film competition took place today at Tumo, with the participation of the U.S. Embassy in Armenia. In November 2013, Tumo called for aspiring young filmmakers between the ages of 17 and 26 to submit their ideas to the “Young Documentarians” workshop contest. Workshop leaders Ara Shirinyan, Arman Yeritsyan and Harutyun Mansuryan then assisted participants in developing their ideas into documentary films with the assistance and guidance of international filmmakers and specialists, including Laurie Ann Schag, Maria Sahakyan and Sean McAllister.

Competition participants were asked to submit proposals related to social and political issues. Ambassador John Heffern noted the difficulty of tackling such issues and congratulated all filmmakers for taking on this challenge.
