Today was the first day of the Young Documentarian workshop at Tumo. The group of selected participants (21 out of 82 applicants), met for the first time and were introduced to the team of professionals who will mentor them during the process of creating their films. They were given the opportunity to share their project ideas and operational details with each other.

The team of professionals includes directors Maria Sahakyan, Ara Shirinyan, Arman Yeritsyan, and Harutyun Mansuryan. Within the framework of the workshop, they will provide the young documentarians professional advice about the ideas and execution of their films. During the workshop, additional mentors will be invited to join the team from abroad.

The workshop will continue until the month of May and will include the three main phases of filmmaking: preproduction, production and post-production. The participants will be provided with all the equipment needed to produce their films. The resulting films, created over the course of the workshop, will be presented to a final competition which is to take place in May. The international panel of judges will choose the "Best Film" whose director will receive financial support to attend a major international film festival, and two second prize winners who will receive DSLR cameras.
